What happened, when

What seems to have worked

  • Time-limited events with a visible reward. The pumpkin hunt came alongside a jump from 19,429 daily players on Oct 11 to 47,433 on Oct 12, though numbers were already climbing that week.
  • Updating often. Updates went live on 8 separate days between Oct 16 and Oct 30. After the Oct 18 peak, daily players stayed above 68,000 through Nov 5, though we can't say how much of that came from the updates.
  • Fixing things for phones first. A log note from Oct 22 put phones at about 83 percent of daily players, so touch camera, joystick and cutscene hints got regular fixes, many of them from player reports. We did not measure the effect of these fixes separately.
  • Local content. Ghosts and customers come from Indonesian folklore and daily life, with Indonesian voices. The Oct 24 batch of new ghosts, customers and voices came alongside 151,834 daily players on Oct 25, the highest figure after the peak.
  • Events listed on Roblox with an RSVP prompt in the game. The Oct 7 event came alongside a rise from 4,983 to 8,751 daily players in one day, and the Oct 24 event alongside a weekend of 143,293 and 151,834.

What the chart does not show

Daily players fell from the peak: 199,744 on Oct 18 to 81,212 on Nov 5, about 59 percent lower.

The biggest jump has no single known cause. Daily players went from 90,995 on Oct 16 to 194,932 on Oct 17, and our logs do not explain why.

A large Indonesian creator's session was scheduled for Oct 21, after the peak. Daily players were 103,641 that day and 121,611 the next, and we can't separate that attention from the updates released at the same time.

Weekends run high on their own. Oct 31 and Nov 1 reached 141,671 and 143,900 with no live admin event scheduled in this game, so the Oct 24 and 25 numbers can't be credited to the event alone.

We also ran paid Roblox ads for this game during this period. This page can't say how much of the growth came from ads, from updates or from outside attention.
